History
In the heat of an argument, two brothers killed one another in the Ridge Cemetery (also known as Union Ridge General Baptist Church) during the 1800s, and they were buried in the very same graveyard. Now, locals report the presence of the spirits, as well as a “tinkling” sound as if a tiny jingle bell were ringing somewhere.

Interesting story! 😮 I’d love to read more on this one!
Ok. I don’t have any more information on this story, but I’m pretty sure I have some stories similar to it. I’ll see if I can find them and post them.

Yay! x
I’ll see if I can find them for you. My main sources (‘Haunted Places: The National Directory’ by Dennis William Hauck and ForgottenUSA.com) can be hard to search, but I’m sure I’ll find them!

Dennis Hauck’s directory is a good general encyclopedia of haunted places but all of his material is derivative; the Ridge Cemetery is originally from William Lynwood Montell’s first book on Kentucky Ghosts; while he knew the exact location of a lot of the places, he deliberately didn’t put them in his book, lest amateur ghost hunters trespass and vandalize them (a common occurrence these days I’m afraid). I met him at a book fair in Bowling Green a few years back; I’m afraid I didn’t ask him about the Ridge Cemetery. It is, however, supposed to be a true tale–or as folklorists like to phrase it “told as true.”
Thanks for the great information! I love Dennis Hauck’s directory. The first time I saw it, I knew it’d be a great resource for my site since they are similarly set up. It’s too bad that old historical places get vandalized so much :/
